I rowed for the Lea from 1997 to 2000 and never won a race. So we were the worst team but had the greatest enthusiasm. I am always intrigued by the dedication to the sport, the hours of training, cleaning boats and chatting in the Riverside Cafe. I love to capture the energy and emotion with raw vibrant colour, working with Acrylic, charcoal and conte pencils.
Snapshot
I captured a girl on a bike taking a snaphot of the rowers about to lower the boat into the water Acrylic on canvas panel 60cm x 40cm
On the water
Rowers going backwards and Canoeists going forwards, they seemed able share the same busy water without crashing . it seemed worthy of cranking up the colours to the max. Acrylic on canvas panel 60 cmx 40cm

Canoeists
I admire the veterans still canoeing in all weathers. Even though they were both practically bent double with age, they were enormously athletic. Acrylic on canvas panel 42 cm x 60 cm
